Bears and Dogs
There is something so sad about discarded children's toys.
Even Mia thinks so.
There's a story here somewhere. I'm gonna go look for it, and return later.

Queens Of The Stone Age
Good evening ladies and germs! I'm sorry it took me so long to get to this but it seems I'm actually getting too old for rock shows! It took about a week to recover from this one due to the fact that my friend, Janelle and I waited out in the cold for 4 hours for Queens of the Stone Age at the Virgin Mega Store. Bear in mind, I had never given these guys a second thought until my friend convinced me I would absolutely love them which I completely do now. Thanx Janelle ;)
Ok. So let me tell you, they were AMAZING! We were literally the 3rd people online and because of that fact, many people would stop to talk to us and we even got in a few interviews with Flow Magazine, K-rock etc. and many o'compliments from random people telling us we looked 17, 18, 19 years old! SWEET! (We're actually 26 and 27 year olds who would like to believe we are still young rocker chicks, hey a girl can dream can't she?) I really do believe we were their oldest fans out there that day. It was bananas! Anyway, we met a few cool cats, shout out to Lloyd for driving us home, and we met a few annoying people, like one dude who wouldn't stop talking about his nuts all night, but overall we had a great time. QOTSA played about 6 or 7 songs mostly from their new cd, Lullabies to Paralyze and some classics from their older cd's such as No One Knows and Little Sister. I believe the highlight of the night was when we were getting our cd's signed and it was set up very generically. You take the booklet out of the cd, it gets passed from one band member to the next and sometimes the band doesn't even look up to acknowledge you. But me and Janelle had to make an impression. As Janelle leaned down to whisper sweet nothings to the lead singer, Josh Homme (hottest red head on the block, yo!), I go "What's that Janelle? Are you talking shit about me?" And Josh goes "No she's talking shit about me!" AWESOME. Unfortunately, they wouldn't allow us to take pics with the band, because if we were allowed to, Janelle and I probably would have licked each side of Josh's face, but that's alright. Virgin Mega-store pulled the same thing when I met Lauryn Hill. No pics of the artist when she's signing. Janelle got tons of pics of them while they were performing anyway so it's all good. Well, they've got themselves a new fan! More shit-talking to come baby!
Here's a few of the pics Janelle got during the show.
For the rest of Janelle's pics, go here!

Enjoy, and definitely check these guys out live if you get the chance. I was dancing with myself so much I worked up a sweat! Good times!

Liveblogging News
Lerher News Hour...
Schiavo - Government, stay out.
F-16's - India should get them. Defend against Pakistan. Let Punjab and Rajisthan seceed and create their own countries.
Bagdad - Terrorists DIE!
Kyrgystan - Sad. Why are these areas so unstable? Why isn't the EU doing something?
Huston blast - Go over to http://www.isfullofcrap.com for info on that.
Easter - Will the Pope just die already?
Schiavo discussion - I really don't care. Bathroom break.
Sorry...got drawn into discussion about Schiavo. But that really is another entry. I'm stuck in a very grey area for that issue.
Off I go to make crudite to go with the cheese, garlic bread, dip, and stuffed shells. Yum.
I love my family. So much good food.

Stormy Weather
It's snowing.
It's March fucking 23rd, and it's fucking snowing.
Can this get any worse?
Oh...right. The meat for my stew is refusing to defrost.
This sucks.
Anyone have a good stew recipe for 1lb of beef and .5lbs of lamb? I'm flying by the seat of my pants here, and wouldn't mind some guidance.

The Poetry of Death
I have a weird relationship with death. Having been surrounded by it since my fifth or sixth year of life, it holds a special place in my emotions.
It's one of two things that can make me curl up in pain at any given time. The other is variable, dependant on where my emotions and my hormones are. But death...I'm not sure quite how to describe it. I read the school massacre stories, the Right-to-Die stories, the murder stories, the abortion stories. I stay up to date, and try to figure out what I believe.
But I can't come to a conclusion. Terri Schiavo might be in a PVS, or she might just be brain damaged and able to recover some kind of life. But why is there no independant review by a panel of doctors? Why aren't MRI's and CT's and PET's being done to truly determine her physical state? Why the hell are the politicians getting involved?
What does this mean for the death penalty? For abortion? For euthanasia? Assisted suicide?
I either think too much, or...I think too much.
Chris Muir of DaybyDay said it best (following is paraphrased)...We live in a world full of color...liberals live in a black and white one.
Amend that to say liberals and conservatives. Very few people see the true brilliance of the colors. Purple, Orange....

Links and Readable Places to Click
I need to do a couple major things to this site. One is change the colors/css. The other is add all my links.
I don't particularly feel like staring at code for another couple hours. Spent the last day creating databases for market research and cost-benefit analysis. And dealing with my tech-illiterate boss/uncle, who doesn't even know how to maximize a Word window. Or any window, for that matter.
Ow, my poor head...Need sleep...
Oh, there's more to do? Yay.

Music and Late Nights
I call upon SARA, the other author of this blog, to tell us about the night out she had. She saw a great band and must tell all.
Not to mention she should introduce herself and start ranting. That is what this is for, after all.

I WIN
Got the damned database to load correctly. Finally.
Now I have to create about a dozen others.
Oy.

Cats Own Us, Not the Other Way Around
I miss my kits. Always had at least one around the house as a kid. Want one now, but don't have the space or the funds. If I have a cat, I want to spoil it rotten.
In the meantime, I head over to the IFOC catcams for my fix.

The Horror of Schools
Was flipping around the usual suspects earlier. Came across the following.
Student Kills Grandparents, 7 at School
When I was a Junior in HS, the Columbine shooting happened. A few years before, I had been part of an exchange with a JrHigh school out near Denver. Each of us stayed with a student. The day of the shooting, they interviewed a bunch of the kids. One of those students was on the TV. She said her boyfriend was still inside.
He was killed.
He was someone I knew. Danced with at their semi-formal. Typical preppy skater kid. Cute. Funny.
And then dead.
I was never so freaked as I was that day. I had known loss. But to be confronted with it, to see maps of the school with a little red dot to mark where he died...Nothing could compare.
And to know that there was someone I knew out there who lost him without being able to say goodbye...
This kid was laughing. He LAUGHED while he waved the guns around.
There is no forgiveness for that. Not from me.

The Struggle is Won
Archives work. So does everything else, supposedly. If anything is wrong, email me at lyinsan -at- gmail -dot- com.
Other than that, the real entries should begin shortly.

Archive Issues
Le sigh. Le gasp. Le moan.
Ok. Enough with the Pepe LePew.
My archive pages aren't working. MT-Load was putting the index and archive pages in the wrong place, I was having to move them manually. Now I have to figure out if I moved them to the wrong place.
I'll figure this out at some point. Just not right now.
Hopefully all the issues will be fixed by tonight and I'll be able to get started on the design tomorrow.

Install Issues
Bah. I chose HostingMatters because of their great reputation, and their support for blogs/MovableType.
And what happens? I get my site up and running, with only a few issues here and there, and their servers go down.
The irony doesn't escape me.

Circles have no beginning
So here we are. A new blog.
I realized last night that as appropriate as this name is for me, there was one that would have been better. I may migrate this to that, if I feel the need.
In the meantime, here we are.
