Yeah, spinning seems to be the rule nowadays....
Actually, I think it is Bush who has always been very concerned about carefully coreographed and controlled meetings with media.
However, the point is another: why does he just not talk to Cindy Sheehan? If he is so self-assured of his opinions etc. he should not have problems to just talk to Ms. Sheehan for 1 hour. And it would show some humanity too.
But I am afraid that the thought of facing unscripted questions and uncontrolled situations chickens him out.
Also, Bush knows very well that much information has emerged that has enormously eroded his credibility, and it is exactly on that information (Downing Street Memo, for instance) that he would rather not talk.

Sheehan is just another radical, screaming, insane woman driven over the edge by the loss of her son.
I feel for her in terms of her loss. But she is *using* it, using the choice her son made knowingly, to push a cause. And that disgusts me. Her son was an admirable man for joining up and not running away, sticking it out. She is twisting that and turning it into an ugly thing for her own purposes. I am not commenting on Bush, since it serves no purpose. But Jeff, over at The Shape Of Days, has a better rant about her than I could write.
Why doesn't he talk to her? Why should he? Is it his responsibility to talk to every mother driven to insanity by the loss of their child? He wouldn't have time for anything else.
