Complete Cosmos error

So as I'm watching the Science channel, a show comes on called "Complete Cosmos".

Ok, looks interesting. Aside from the common errors and stupid shit, the following happens...

"Saturn's atmosphere is made up of nitrogen, oxygen, and ME-thane."

Not methane, ME-thane. Emphasis on the first syllable, pronounced like "me".

WHAT THE FUCK?!

This was not a single error, nor was it me mishearing it. He said it twice more.

What kind of morons do they have doing commentary on the science channel?

Although #9 is kinda fucked up, because...well, take the test. If you figure out what I don't like about it, come back and comment. I'll tell you if it's what I thought.

Xenosaga

I really need to finish the game. I finished the first disk, the second one calls, but I barely have time to blog, let alone play games.

Speaking of busy, I have a new site I'm working on.

The Parent's Sandbox

It'll be really neat once it's up and running. In the meantime, if you want to register and start discussions, go for it. There's an introductory post explaining what it's all about.

Good House quote

"Either she understands or she's not brave. If she understands, she deserves the right to know." - Dr. House, referring to a 9 year old girl who is about to undergo a surgery in which she's going to be killed so they can find a clot in her brain.

He then goes to her room and asks her if she's too tired to keep fighting. They have a very mature discussion in which the girl (Andie) says she has to take care of her mom.

I'm not able to impart the amazingness of that scene. The emotion she showed and the photography combined to create one of the best pathos scenes I've seen.

Blogathon

As I'm sure y'all have noticed, I've put a banner at the top of my page. It links directly to my Blogathon page, where people can sign up to sponsor me.

I'm blogging for the Association for International Cancer Research, the same org I blogged for two years ago.

Let's see if we can best my achievement of last time ($55.00), maybe even breaking $100.00...or more...

I'll be crossposting this on forums and on Hidden Rebel Base.

Some songs rated in my Yahoo Launch (in no particular order):

This is in no way complete, and I didn't include multiple songs from the same artist. This is just a sampling of my tastes. Besides, several of the artists I like aren't on Yahoo.

Weekend

This is going to be an interesting weekend.

Some good friends of mine (the ones with the two girls I babysit) are moving to CT on June 3rd. This means I only get to see them occasionally.

I need to buy the youngest her birthday present. No idea what to get her. Probably end up picking up a Maurice Sendak book for when she's older. Pair it with one of the stuffed monsters from Where The Wild Things Are.

My mom is coming down to the city for the weekend. It's also my uncle's birthday, so we'll be celebrating that. Need to get him a present/card.

Need to pay bills. Have no money. Being poor sucks.

Won't hear from CUNY for another month. Waiting sucks.

I'm trying to finish up a video game (Kingdom Hearts) which has me in its clutches.

AND...

The most major event of the weekend...THE SOX PLAY THE YANKEES!

GO SOX!

KICK THEIR ASSES!

YANKEES SUCK!

I love you all and I love the Passionfruit.

(If you know what that means, email me. We may have a lot in common. If you don't, you won't get it. Inside joke.)

Idol Finale

I'm over at Idol Tongues discussing the finale of AI.

It's been a long, crazy season.

Lots of Paula Crack Trips, bad Ford commercials, idiotic group songs, and some really shitty singing.

Oh, and a couple people who should be stars.

------------

I was going to go to the Archives Listening Project down on Essex St tonight. Unfortunatly, certain events which shall remain nameless have kept me stuck to my bed in growling pain. I apologize to those who expected me there, and hope they will have fun.

UPDATE: Awful show, as expected. One good bit where Bo sang with Lynyrd Skynyrd (damn that was amazing). Carrie won. We all wish Bo had won, but we all know that he'll get signed to an amazing rock contract.

Finally...

So. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

Decent movie. Of course I went in not expecting much, and my expectations were met. Great graphics, great hell planet, sucky acting from Natalie Portman, and Ewan McGregor was underused.

Check, check, check, and check.

Some of the acting was really bad. I mean really bad. There were scenes that had me hiding my face in my hands, trying not to laugh.

The audience in my theater was terrible. I think we were all just trying to avoid the embarrassment of reacting to the movie. A friend of mine went to see it at a different theater later that night, and said their audience was making fun of the film. Comments were made, laughter was had...

Maybe I should see it again, this time at a different theater with a different audience.

Anyone want to join me for the purposes of making fun of bad acting and gay droids?

REVIEW

I swear, it's coming.

Saw SW:RotS yesterday.

It's good. Not as good as it should have been, but Michele gives a good example of why I wasn't disappointed.

Well, that and also the fact that I didn't expect a whole lot from it.

Geek Blogging

I'm going to see Star Wars tomorrow at 1pm in Union Square.

I'd tell everyone (all two of you) to come make fun of me while I'm standing on line, but you don't know what I look like.

I'm actually looking forward to this. I've never been a huge SW fan, more of the ST franchise appealed to me, but I'll still go to see it.

I'll post a review afterwards.

Now back to your regularly scheduled bullshit.

Queens Of The Stone Age

Good evening ladies and germs! I'm sorry it took me so long to get to this but it seems I'm actually getting too old for rock shows! It took about a week to recover from this one due to the fact that my friend, Janelle and I waited out in the cold for 4 hours for Queens of the Stone Age at the Virgin Mega Store. Bear in mind, I had never given these guys a second thought until my friend convinced me I would absolutely love them which I completely do now. Thanx Janelle ;)
Ok. So let me tell you, they were AMAZING! We were literally the 3rd people online and because of that fact, many people would stop to talk to us and we even got in a few interviews with Flow Magazine, K-rock etc. and many o'compliments from random people telling us we looked 17, 18, 19 years old! SWEET! (We're actually 26 and 27 year olds who would like to believe we are still young rocker chicks, hey a girl can dream can't she?) I really do believe we were their oldest fans out there that day. It was bananas! Anyway, we met a few cool cats, shout out to Lloyd for driving us home, and we met a few annoying people, like one dude who wouldn't stop talking about his nuts all night, but overall we had a great time. QOTSA played about 6 or 7 songs mostly from their new cd, Lullabies to Paralyze and some classics from their older cd's such as No One Knows and Little Sister. I believe the highlight of the night was when we were getting our cd's signed and it was set up very generically. You take the booklet out of the cd, it gets passed from one band member to the next and sometimes the band doesn't even look up to acknowledge you. But me and Janelle had to make an impression. As Janelle leaned down to whisper sweet nothings to the lead singer, Josh Homme (hottest red head on the block, yo!), I go "What's that Janelle? Are you talking shit about me?" And Josh goes "No she's talking shit about me!" AWESOME. Unfortunately, they wouldn't allow us to take pics with the band, because if we were allowed to, Janelle and I probably would have licked each side of Josh's face, but that's alright. Virgin Mega-store pulled the same thing when I met Lauryn Hill. No pics of the artist when she's signing. Janelle got tons of pics of them while they were performing anyway so it's all good. Well, they've got themselves a new fan! More shit-talking to come baby!

Here's a few of the pics Janelle got during the show.

Whew! Hot sweaty red-head in the hizzy!
Rocking out at Virgin Mega-Store!
